Building New Ones
At K&R Concrete, we typically deal with three main types of foundations here in SLC. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, but our quality of work stays the same, and you can be assured that yours will last for years to come! If you have any questions on what to expect, feel free to give us a call at 801-704-7835!
These cement foundations are by far the cheapest of the three choices, but they're also the most simple. Concrete slab foundations are poured much like a driveway or patio. We begin by digging down a few feet and backfilling the hole with gravel. The area surrounding it is graded and a plastic sheet is actually laid over the top in order to help seal the foundation from any moisture underneath. A steel mesh is also laid down which will help strengthen the final product and power and water lines are ran for greater convenience. Our concrete foundation contractors will pour the slab around six to eight inches deep, while the edges are poured a little further to help keep the cement from shifting as the ground around it continues to settle.
Crawl spaces are a popular choice due to their reasonable price and easy accessibility. They resemble a basement, with open spaces underneath the home, however these areas are too short to provide living or storage space. They do however allow you and others to easily access any water and power lines running underneath.
Our cement foundation experts in Salt Lake City UT will actually begin the process by excavating around six feet down and backfilling the hole with gravel. Perforated pipes are often laid underneath to help drain away any runoff moisture, and using forms, we'll pour the walls and floor. Once the concrete has cured, we'll remove the forms and you can move on to framing your home or business. Any questions? Feel free to give our foundation company a call at 801-704-7835.
These types of foundations, while expensive, are great additions to your home or business as they offer you additional living and storage space. While often viewed as dark and dungeon like, basements can actually offer great natural lighting and outdoor access when built on a slope.
Our commercial and residential concrete foundation contractors near you begin the process by digging down eight to ten feet. This hole is then filled with gravel and covered in a plastic layer that helps seal off the home from moisture coming from the soil. The cement is poured in three stages, beginning with the beams, then the walls, and finally the floor. A steel "L" is also installed between the walls and floor to help strengthen the structure and keep it intact.
Repairing Old Ones
Maintaining the foundation of your home or business is one of the most important tasks for any property owner. If it fails, you're likely to be paying tens of thousands of dollars in repairs, when a simple call and our foundation repair company in Salt Lake City Utah could've cut the problem at the source!
Here at K&R Concrete, our team can help you identify and the fix the issues in your foundation, whether we're working with a slab, crawl space, or basement. Our crew typically uses two different methods, piering and jacking. Piering involves driving metal jacks deep into the ground which are then anchored and used to push up cement that's drooping. Concrete jacking in SLC is another method that uses foam instead to push up the foundation.
