Our Driveway Services

Want a new cement patio in SLC poured? Maybe you need an old one repaired? Whatever the case, we here at K&R can help! With experienced contractors and strong backs, we'll get your project done right and done on time. Here's a little bit more about the services we offer below:

Installation

Pouring a cement driveway in front of your home is a great way to add easy access to the garage, extra parking space out front, and protect the soil surrounding your home from heavy vehicles. Getting one of these installed correctly shouldn't just be on the list, it should be a priority!

We start this process by first prepping the ground underneath. We'll start by mapping out the area with spray paint and then grading the surrounding soil. After, we'll dig down around eight inches and fill this spot with compacted gravel. This gives the overlying cement a solid base and protects it from freezing temperatures.

After this has been completed, our Salt Lake concrete driveway contractors will go ahead and install "forms". These boards act as a mold that holds the wet cement in place until it's cured. We'll then pour and spread the concrete evenly into the edges and corners. A "scree" is used to flatten the top and a bullrake smooths out the surface of your cement slabs. Control joints are also cut and edges rounded to help prevent chipping or cracking over time. Finally, a plastic sheet is laid over the top to help your driveway retain moisture as it hardens. Questions about how this process works? Want to know what our prices are? Give us a call today at 801-704-7835 or fill out the form above! Repair

While our work is made to last, you may notice cracks forming over time, and maybe even slabs that are out of level. This can happen as freezing temperatures set in and the ground settles underneath. No need to fear though, K&R can help! Here's a little bit more about the different fixes we can take care of:
Holes & Cracks
Cracks and holes form on the surface of your concrete driveway as freezing water pushes slabs apart, the ground settles, and you drop hard, heavy objects. We can generally fix these using a quick patch that keeps the damage from spreading. If the damage is extensive, we can use a Salt Lake cement driveway repair technique called "resurfacing". This involves laying down a skim coat of cement evenly across the surface of the slab and letting it fill any cracks or holes.
Uneven CONCRETe
Occasionally, you'll notice the corners and edges of cement driveway sagging. This is the result of underlying soil settling at different rates and we'll often use a process called "concrete lifting" to fix this. This involves drilling holes through the slab and injecting pressurized foam or filler underneath, pushing it back to level. If this doesn't work, "piering", or using a large metal jack to lift any low spot, can be employed.
Structural damage
Unfortunately structural damage can't be fixed. In this case, we'd actually replace the entire surface with a new one. Questions? Want some prices? Give us a call at 801-704-7835!
